I have been a qualified teacher for well over two decades, initially teaching in mainstream primary schools as a class teacher, before specialising in working with children who have additional needs and disabilities twenty years ago, firstly as a Special Needs teacher, then as a Special Educational Needs Coordinator and a Specialist Advisory Teacher for the Local Educational Authority, before taking up the post of Head of Learning Support at a leading Prep School in Cambridge for twelve years. 

For six years, I was the National Prep School Advisor for Special Educational Needs. I am an experienced advisor and trainer for schools. I am also the current editor of the Learning Development section of ‘Broadsheets’ Magazine, published by SATIPS (Support and Training in Prep, Primary and Senior Schools). In 2019, I completed a Masters in Psychology, in which I received a Distinction for my dissertation on the optimum parenting approaches to supporting children with Attention Deficit and Hyperactivity Disorder.  I am now the new Lead Special Educational Needs Consultant for Specialist Dr Chris Schramm (Cambridge Private Doctors/ GP ADHD).   

In my spare time, I work as a Magistrate for Cambridgeshire in both Adult Crime and Family Courts.

My career has enabled me to have the privileged position of helping to develop the lives of children, striving to support them to meet their potential and to be confident and proud of themselves, no matter what. Having raised three of my own in that time, there are no barriers to learning or emotional wellbeing that I have not encountered and been determined to remove. I am delighted to be able to now offer my own consultancy services, bringing together my experience and all I know, respect and admire about children and childhood.
